LGBTQ+ Literature Project

Luncheon & Teacher Training

$500 stipend for participating teachers

Santa Cruz County public and school librarians and book lovers have created a list of the top 10 LGBTQ+ books that each school library should purchase. These lists are organized by grade span (K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12). The announcement of this list will be made during a luncheon and press conference at the Santa Cruz COE on June 14th, 2022. The afternoon will be the orientation and launch of the lesson plan writing process based on the chosen books.

Summer Arts Integration Institute

June 20-23, 2022 | 10:00 am - 3:00 pm | In Person
Earn 3-8 CEU's depending on participation level

Our annual Summer Arts Integration Institute is happening June 20-23 from 10:00-3:00 at either Harbor High School or Santa Cruz High School. This is our 12th year and the Institute has now expanded to include all of Region V: Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Clara counties. You will be eligible to earn between 3-8 CEUs depending on your level of participation. Those who participate in the year-round Arts Integration Community of Practice can earn 8 CEUs. Foundations of Equitable Grading Summer Online Course

June 1- August 31, 2022 | Asynchronous | Virtual
Upon completion of this course, two (2) graduate-level semester units will be available through the University of the Pacific for a fee.

The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) invites all TK-12th grade educators, TOSAs (Teachers on Special Assignment), instructional coaches, and district/school site administrators to the Foundations of Equitable Grading Summer Online Course.

During this course you will:

  • Reflect upon current grading practices and how they support/hinder a growth mindset

  • Explore equitable grading practices and how these practices impact students

  • Learn strategies to make grading more equitable

  • Begin to build an understanding of equitable grading systems

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Participants will need to purchase Grading for Equity by Joe Feldman.

  • This self-paced course will take about 14-16 hours to complete.

  • Upon completion of this course, two (2) graduate-level semester units will be available through the University of the Pacific for a fee.

SVMI Virtual Coaching Math Institute

Participants are encouraged to register as a Team!

Support for teachers with taking real-world situations into classrooms, and having students mathematize them in order to make generalizations, create convincing arguments, and/or analyze their findings. Scholarships available for SC County Teachers! An admin session will be offered July 21. In-Person Institutes will be offered July 25-29 in Lafayette and Stockton.

Computer Science Leadership Academy

Join the Computer Science team from the Santa Cruz County Office of Education in a year-long exploration of computer science and information technology during our Computer Science Leadership Academy. This professional learning opportunity will provide Santa Cruz county educators with a fun and supportive environment to learn, practice and apply computer science into classroom curriculum and be a CS leader in their district.
