We have one hour monthly to share and explore arts integration resources, lessons and units. We will examine the connection between social-emotional learning and the arts and explore how the arts are a means for developing physical, emotional, mental, and social health and well-being.

Visual and Performing Arts Teachers Network and Professional Learning

Visual and Performing Art Teachers Network: We will join forces with PVUSD. At the first meeting, we will address having a separate network for teachers who are unable to make these meetings.

For All Teachers: Wednesday, August 17 from 2:00-3:00 at the Watsonville City Building Community Room

All meetings will be held in Watsonville on Wednesdays between 2:00-3:00.

Professional Learning in Music

Santa Cruz COE, Santa Cruz Symphony & Carnegie Hall Link Up Orchestra Sings Professional Learning

Please attend the Link Up Professional Learning: Wednesday, September 21 from 2:00-3:30 at Amesti Elementary School in Watsonville OR Friday, September 23 from 3:00-4:30 at Soquel Elementary School in Soquel.

fTBD: Orchestra Sings follow-up meeting November 16 from 2:00-3:00 on Zoom.


Review the Link Up program, develop familiarity with the selections for the Link Up Concert. review best practices of the program, share lessons, successes, challenges & next steps.

Summer Arts Integration Institute

4 days at the beginning of June

Option: Participants have the option of joining the year-long Arts Integration Community of Practice


Join us for the region-wide Summer Arts Integration Institute! We explore the arts disciplines and arts integration. We provide strategies to help support students in developing their voice, leadership skills, creativity, equity lens, social and emotional wellness, and connectedness. Finally, we explore our own creativity and social-emotional wellness. We look forward to having you join us!
Audience: TK-12 grade Teachers, Teaching Artists, Administrators, High School & College Students

Artist Teacher Partnership Program

Attend 3 meetings throughout the year.

Teacher and Teaching Artist meet 1-2x/week


Form a collaboration between the classroom teacher and a teaching artist. Co-create and co-teach lessons that draw from Common Core and California Arts Standards. Create binder of lessons that can be shared and replicated.
Audience: Teachers, Teaching Artists, Alternative Education High School Teachers

Poetry Out Loud

1 meeting in September and 1 meeting in early December

These PL offerings lead to the Poetry Out Loud Student Competition


Become familiar with the national Poetry Out Loud format, strategies, curriculum & assessments. Review how to use the program to support students. Share best practices. Review Rubric & Judging Criteria. Learn how to hold a classroom and school competition.

World Languages Poetry Showcase

2 meetings in December & February

These PD offerings lead to the World Languages Poetry Showcase


Support our multilingual community by showcasing poetry in many languages. Support students in improving their analytical skills through reading and interpreting a variety of poems. Share best practices for teaching poetry recitation.
Audience: High School Teachers

Youth Art Exhibit

Fall - Spring

Join our countywide Art Exhibit by submitting up to 50 pieces of student artwork per district for our annual spring exhibit.


Support teachers in teaching standards-based visual art lessons and collect student work to showcase in the Youth Arts Exhibit

FashionTeens

Support teachers in using the FashionTeens program that integrates the Arts with Environmental Literacy

Increase student voice, engagement and leadership throughout our high schools. We can support you and your students by presenting options for student participation in Youth Artists Taking Action.
